2018 Ohio Charities

Dear Brother Knight,

The Ohio Charity 2018 Super Cash Bonanza Campaign is under way.  The State Council is offering 25 great cash prizes for this campaign. The drawing will take place at the State Convention May 19 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington, KY. The State Council ticket format remains the same, $5.00 per ticket.

Our council’s goal is five (5) tickets per member.  At the highest rebate level, our council could realize nearly $4.50 per ticket for our council’s charities.  We are asking for your support and cooperation in selling as many tickets as possible, particularly during the 1st Phase.  The major incentives for council rebates are highly weighted toward the 1st Phase.  Make the check out to the Knights of Columbus #3970 and mail the ticket stubs to Randy Katona, PGK, listed below, or drop them off at the council hall during the business meetings on April 5 (1st Phase turn-in deadline) or May 3 (final turn-in).

Monies earned from the Ohio Charity Campaigns over the past four years realized over $4,500 for our council, which was used to fulfill our charitable missions in support of our foremost principle of the order. In 2017, Lafayette Council #3970 donated $1,000 to the Westside Catholic Hunger Center, St. Malachi Center, the VA Hospital, and Cornerstone of Hope. We thank those who participated for their strong response and hope you continue to help our council.

Ash Wednesday Charity Dinner a Success

The Knights of Lafayette Council sponsored a charity dinner with proceeds going to Richard Simade, a seminarian at St. Mary Seminary. Nearly 200 dinners were served, and Fr. Pete Colletti presented a check to Richard for $500! Richard greatly appreciated the donation to help defray the cost of his education towards the priesthood.

A special thank you goes to State Deputy Robert Collins, Jr., and his wife, Linda; and District Deputy and Chapter President Ken Perk for supporting our efforts with their presence. And thank you to St. Michael Parish parishioners for their support and donations — you were very generous.

Pictured below are the eight hardworking Brother Knights who spent all day preparing and serving the delicious food, State Deputy Robert Collins, Jr., District Deputy Ken Perk, Seminarian Richard Simade, Fr. Pete Colletti, and Karen Mayher. Not pictured, but who also helped throughout the evening, are wives Pat Wolf and Pam Katona. A job well done, gentlemen and ladies!
